Film Academy is an after school programme of inspirational and creative film making sessions, supported by AccessNFTS, the National Film and Television School's outreach programme. Over the course of the term, the students will create and produce an original documentary short film that will tel a true story.
For the Spring term, the Film Academy crew will turn their camera towards a local person, place or thing and uncover the story hiding in plain sight. The children will start by developing ideas for who to
interview and how to question, before showcasing these ideas as vox pops to camera. Once the subject is finalised the crew will be responsible for resdearching, planning, writing and designing the core interview. That will then form the basis for designing, acting and shooting reenactments and b-roll for the final film. Towards the end of therm the crew will prepare for post-production by recording voice overs and sound effects for their film.
All of this under the guidance of experienced teachers, filmmakers, artists and musicians. Throughout the term the students will work towards their certification in filmmaking supported by AccessNFTS and the Children's International Film Festival.
