Film Academy
Film Academy is the arm of Ciné Schools that embeds itself within a school, to offer an after school programme of film courses. Over the course of each term, the students create and produce an original short film. They are guided through the process from ideation to choosing music and sound effects. Each step is as hands on as possible with the final film shown on a big screen at a showcase event.
We enter the films into film festivals and work closely with: our resources partner AccessNFTS, national museums and with guest teachers from across the creative industries. Across three terms the students will work towards an AccessNFTS accredited Young Filmmaker qualification. Please see below for more about this. All our Production Managers and Production Assistants are DBS Checked, all are supportive and inspirational and all have screen arts and teaching experience.
Filmmaking Certification

Over the course of three terms, students taking part in Film Academy will work towards a Young Filmmaker Certificate in Filmmaking. With three levels, starting with Understanding, the children will progress to Developing and Mastering Filmmaking as they continue on their Film Academy journey.
Each of the three levels cover all aspects of pre-production, production and key elements of the post-production process. The programme sets out a clear progression over the three levels, with a mix of skills and experience required for each. Certificates are awarded in a school assembly at the end of the academic year.
Extra-curricular and co-curricular opportunities for schools
If you are interested in learning more about how filmmaking can become part of your extra-curricular and co-curricular offering then please do get in touch. Film Academy adds to the creative outlets available for the children, adding to the offering that OFSTED and ISI are looking for with regard to unique opportunities in the creative arts.
We work with schools across Key Stage 2, 3 and 4, providing a fun creative outlet unavailable in mainstream teaching. Some secondary schools are even using Film Academy as a supplement to their Media Studies offering. Students have access to film industry experts who bring real world experience and skills from across the screen arts industries to Film Academy sessions. Through the term students get hands on experience of filmmaking skills which transfer seamlessly to many areas of today's curriculum.
We have worked across all areas of school provision, from integrating filmmaking into classroom activities inline with the curriculum to allow students to show understanding and their progress, to after school and holiday clubs where creativity and teamwork are championed while introducing children to filmmaking skills they can build on as they progress through school and beyond.
To learn more and discuss how we can support your offering in and around school please send us an email to info@cineschools.com. From there we can arrange a time to speak, and even visit, to work through how filmmaking can support your school's objectives and an offering that will work for you and your students.
