Ciné Acting
Frequently Asked Questions
Do students need previous acting experience?
No previous acting experience is required. The Foundation Stage is suitable for students who are new to acting as well as those with prior experience in drama or screen performance. The course also helps students understand the key differences between stage and screen acting, so they can adjust their performance for the camera with confidence. Training is adapted to suit both age and experience level.
What age groups is the course for?
Ciné Acting is offered for two age groups: 10–13 and 14–17. Students are grouped by age to ensure appropriate pacing, material and learning approach.
How long is the course?
The complete Ciné Acting programme consists of eight sessions, each lasting 3.5 hours, delivered over consecutive Saturdays. The programme is structured in two stages:
-
Foundation Stage: 6 sessions
-
Advanced Stage: 2 additional sessions
Courses run during term time. Sessions do not usually take place during school holidays, although a session may fall on the Saturday immediately following the final day of the school term.
Is the Advanced Course compulsory?
No. Students may enrol in the Foundation Course on its own. However, Ciné Acting is designed as a complete programme and while the Foundation Stage can be taken independently, completing both stages consecutively is recommended to gain the full benefit of the training.
What will students receive at the end of the course?
Foundation Stage students receive a professionally filmed duologue self-tape, created using industry-standard casting practice. Advanced Stage students will then also receive a cinematic duologue scene, created using industry-standard filming practice and edited for showreel use.
Where does the course take place?
Courses run in West or South-West London, hosted in professional studio or performance spaces. Final locations are confirmed prior to the course start date.
Are students filmed during sessions?
Yes. Filming is an essential part of screen acting training. All filming is handled professionally and in line with safeguarding and data protection guidelines. Media consent is required before participation.
What if we have questions before booking?
Full course details are available on the Ciné Acting page. If you have any questions before booking, you’re welcome to get in touch. Once booked, you will also receive a Parent Handbook, which provides more detailed information about the course structure, expectations, and practical arrangements, so families feel fully informed ahead of the first session.
